The first program for phlebotomy training in Bakersfield CA is offered through Academy Education Services and it’s subsidiary Clinical Training Institute. They are currently offering the course in three formats. You can choose to take a Monday through Thursday course that is running at night from 6 PM to 10 PM. You can also take an afternoon session that runs from 1PM to 5PM for those who have availability during the daytime. For those limited to weekends, you may be able to complete the course on Saturdays from 8AM to 5PM. Recently there has been a Monday through Friday program added from 8:00AM to 12:30PM. The total cost of the program is $2,141 and includes all books needed. To hold a spot in the course, you may pay a $500  deposit and pay the balance before starting the course. The next evening class starts March 23, 2015. The next Saturday class starts April 18, 2015.

Topics that are covered include medical terminology, collection equipment, skin punctures, blood collection procedures, anatomy,  safety, and  other specimen collections. The class will meet and exceed the requirements of California. You will need to complete 10 skin punctures. Additionally, you will need to complete 50 venipunctures and have 40 hours of clinical training completed at a state approved laboratory.  The didactic or classroom portion will take a total of 60 hours through this phlebotomy training program in Bakersfield.

Phlebotomy for Medical Professionals

There is now a phlebotomy course designed for those already working in the medical field. It is targeted towards medical assistants, registered nurses, LVNs, and physiciansThe entire class can be completed in as little as 16 hours. It typically is taught four hours a day for four days. Classes are now taught from 6:00PM to 10:00PM Monday through Thursday. The total cost of this class is about $899 for tuition, supplies and textbooks.

The total cost of the program is $1,800. This amount includes lab supplies, uniform, textbook and tuition fees. There is also a $105 fee to be paid for the national certifying examination. The class is taught in a four week format. Classes run Monday through Thursday in either the day or night. Day sessions go from 9:00AM to 1:00PM. Night classes are from 5:30PM to 9:30PM for four weeks. The next class for the phlebotomy classes start March 30, 2015.

The phlebotomy training program requires that you have a GED or high school diploma to enroll. There are some additional educational and experience requirements. To enroll in this program you must also have completed at least 20 college units with a C or higher in the past 2 years to prove that you are working towards high education. You may also fill the requirement through proof of a completed vocational school program and an active license. Previous educational requirements may also be met through proof that you already have an associates degree or a Bachelor’s degree. A TB test and background check are also required to be completed.
