The phlebotomy training program at Mission Career College is offered in a 3 and half week long format. There is a 24.5 hour basic phlebotomy classroom course and a 24.5 hour advanced phlebotomy classroom portion. The classroom portion takes up the first twelve days. An externship follows and is one week long. The class has been taught in the past from 9AM to 1PM. Requirements include a high school diploma or GED prior to applying to the program. Students must also take a Wonderlic Scholastic Level Examination. The cost of the program is $1,550. This includes tuition registration, uniform ,lab fee and externship costs.

Westech College offers a basic phlebotomy course, and advanced phlebotomy course and an phlebotomy externship. Each of these courses are approximately 40 hours each. That brings the total time to complete the phlebotomy training at 120 hours over the span of about 5 weeks. The classroom portions are taught five days per week from 5:45 PM to 10:00PM. The externship runs eight hours per day, Monday through Friday. The hours for the externship are 7:00AM to 3:30 PM or 8:00AM to 5PM. The total cost of the program is $1600 and includes tuition, registration fees, books and supplies.  Requirements include completion of the application process and proof of high school diploma /GED.

The Wagner Training Institute offers a 80 hour phlebotomy training course. The courses offered include a basic phlebotomy course, advanced phlebotomy course, and externship. The total cost of the program is $1,830 and includes the basic phlebotomy course, advanced phlebotomy course, national examination costs and the State of California license application fee.   In order to complete all venipunctures and skin punctures, you must complete the externship. Hours for this portion are 8:00AM to 5:00PM. The examination is offered through the National Test Company and requires registration ahead of the test date. The day of the test, there is a $25 fee due the day of the exam.  Upon complete you should be able to apply for the CPT1 through the State of California.

The complete phlebotomy training offers a program including a basic, advanced and clinical portion. Requirements for the program include a high school diploma with a 2.0 or better average or GED. The cost of the basic class is $550, the advanced is $550 and the clinical amounts to $650.  There is a registration fee of $275 that includes costs of supplies, lab coat and textbooks. You must have your CPR and Healthcare Provider Card or pay a $50 to complete.  There is a $20 charge for Malpractice insurance and a $125 cost to take the examination through the National Center for Competency Testing. The total cost including all of the above items is $2295.

Requirements include a CPR card that reads “Health Care Provider”. This must be valid through the course and can’t be completed online. You must complete a live scan background check. The total program runs 8 weeks with two sessions each week. The classes are currently being offered Thursdays 4:00PM -9:20PM. The total cost of the tuition is $1750 and the materials costs $245.

Getting Certification After Classes

After you finish up with you phlebotomy training in Riverside CA you will need to apply to get your license through the state. You are going to want to make sure you have passed a certifying examination likely provided at your school of choice. There is also going to be a record of the number of successful venipunctures and skin puncture performed. Those will need to be signed off on by a supervising personnel.
